The Toad

This unassuming statue, deeply rooted in Wavre's legends, represents the Crapaute. This young girl is known as the Maca's fiancée. The term " crapaute" is thought to originate from the Walloon word "crapode," meaning "promissory." She is depicted leaning over a basin shaped like a green leaf, one of the emblems of the city of Wavre.
