Poet's Island
This former wash house, frequented by many Wavre residents who came to do their laundry by the line
For centuries, it has taken on a particular name today. Called the "poet's islet," it recalls the
birthplace of Maurice Carême, born in Wavre a few meters from this old wash house.
His internationally renowned work testifies to the attachment he felt for his hometown .
