Ne vous fiez pas au millésime visible sur sa façade. L’église Saint-Jean-Baptiste est bien
plus ancienne que cela. La première construction de ce bâtiment religieux remonte aux
alentours de l’an mil. À la fin du Moyen-Âge, de nombreux combats et incendies ravagent
la ville. Ceux-ci impactent l’église, forçant les habitants à la reconstruire à plusieurs
reprises. Elle ne prend son apparence actuelle qu’aux alentours de 1695, après un énième
incendie qui ravage le bâtiment et la tour flambant neuve.
